Organizing Extension Cords

Extension cords are very helpful around the home, but entangled and disorganized ones can be annoying, and could pose risks as well.

Tip Hero shared some ways to keep home extension cords neat and organized. Builders and Contractors

“Usually, the problem with long cords like extension cords and outdoor power cords isn’t in the rolling up; it’s in the inevitable trouble you’ll have untangling them when you need to use them again. Luckily, you can avoid this tangled mess by simply using this effective rolling method. It’s called the over & under method, and we can tell it’s going to save us a whole lot of time and make for a lot less struggling.”

“For this first trick, start off by holding the two heads of your cord in one hand. Then, pull the cord with your other hand until it is untangled. Your cord should now be straightly folded in half.”

Door are an everyday part of life. I keeps people and properties safe, and maintains privacy. Apart from these three main functions though, doors can be a subject of interesting and amusing stories.

Just like this one from The Dodo.com. A poodle goes to door after door in a nursing home daily.

“While Dawson does his work, Nala does hers — going room to room in the care center, visiting residents and hopping up on beds and into laps to offer kisses. Nala even knows how to ride the elevators all by herself.”

In Idaho, a family was surprised to find a bear poking his head through their cat door as shared by the ABC News.

” The bear’s latest break-in was this Thursday night. Harder said he heard noises at his door then found a bear trying to get through his cat’s door. Harder said he wasn’t scared because he knew the bear was too large to get through. He said he was lucky to get the shot, because within a few seconds, the bear was gone.”

Climate Progress for instance shared in one of its posts that Hawaii may soon just get power only from renewable energy sources.

“Hawaii’s dramatic shift to renewable energy over the past few years has been largely driven by the island state’s high electricity prices. Hawaii gets most of its electricity from oil-fired power plants, and all the oil is imported. Electricity there can cost three times as much as the national average.”

There is a lot about door handles that can amaze just about anyone. It may be a usual fixture in a home or commercial establishment, but when it is not as common, or ordinary, everyone pays attention to it.

“Soon you may be able to toss your hand sanitizer. Two teens from Hong Kong have created a new door handle that wipes out 99.8 percent of all germs on contact, potentially revolutionizing the hygiene industry. Realizing the extent to which bacteria spreads on public door handles, shopping carts and other objects touched by hundreds if not thousands of people each day, 17-year-old Sun Ming (Simon) Wong and 18-year-old King Pong (Michael) Li sought a material that could eliminate bacteria. Turns out titanium oxide does the trick, but they had to come up with an innovative way to activate it.”

IFL Science for instance featured a fund raising project about a solar-powered spacecraft.

“LightSail is a ‘citizen-funded project’ by The Planetary Society, which Nye leads as their CEO. The project will use the sun’s energy to propel itself into Earth’s orbit. While light particles, or photons, don’t have any mass, they do have momentum. The project will use tiny CubeSats, a type of satellite used in space research, to carry large reflective sails and use the momentum from photons to accelerate. The spacecraft can accelerate continuously and increase in speed over time.”
